Eisai (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Partners with Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad and PMCare Sdn. Bhd. to Enhance Access to Alzheimer's Disease Treatments and Promote Awareness of AD, Dementia, and Brain Health in Malaysia

Eisai (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Eisai), a sales subsidiary of Japan-based pharmaceutical company Eisai Co., Ltd., under the leadership of Managing Director Ms. Kam Ai Teng, proudly announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad (Tokio Marine) and PMCare Sdn. Bhd. (PMCare), which collaborates on promoting disease awareness activities, and developing solutions for improving affordability of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) management in Malaysia.
Eisai has long been recognized as a pioneering pharmaceutical company dedicated to groundbreaking research and development in the field of AD treatments. Our unwavering commitment extends to efforts to enhance the lives of early-stage AD patients and ensure equal access to high-quality medical care for all.
With a profound commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Malaysia's AD population, Eisai, Tokio Marine, and PMCare are united to confront the mounting challenges posed by the rising prevalence of AD. Our shared mission is to minimize these hurdles and make treatments more readily accessible to the public. Eisai has been at the forefront of AD research to solve these issues for more than 35 years. Our goal for the future is to ultimately prevent disease progression, by engaging new diagnostic methodologies and next-generation treatments.
During the official signing ceremony, Mr. Shohei Kanazawa, Vice President and President of Asia and Latin America Region of Eisai, underscored the significance of this partnership, stating that “Alzheimer's Disease is a growing threat for patients and their families in Malaysia as it imposes burdens not only on patients and their care partners, but also to the society and healthcare system. In Malaysia, an estimated ~260,000 people are living with dementia and more than 90% of elderly people have a low level of awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease 1,2. This contributes to significant gaps in proactive care. We are honored to be given an opportunity to work hand-in-hand with respectable partners such as Tokio Marine and PMCare. In this partnership, Eisai will leverage our experience and knowledge to drive awareness of dementia and enhance access to diagnosis, treatments, total care for elders and dementia patients and to make a greater impact in this next era of Alzheimer’s Disease care in Malaysia.”
Mr. Masaaki Morimoto, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Tokio Marine shared his thoughts during the ceremony, saying “Tokio Marine is delighted to celebrate the signing of this significant partnership, which marks a new chapter for the product development team. This milestone would enable us to increasingly create positive impact to the Malaysian society.”
Additionally, Mr. Kamal Aryf, Chief Executive Officer of PMCare, emphasized their commitment, stating "As Malaysia will become an aging society by 2030, PMCare aims to engage with relevant stakeholders to create a network of support and knowledge and generate a high level of sustainable awareness of Alzheimer's Disease and dementia, especially in the potential target population so that no one takes Alzheimer's Disease and dementia for granted. This collaboration with Eisai and Tokio Marine is a big step forward for all of us to enhance the quality of lives of Malaysians affected by Alzheimer's Disease and dementia.."
As part of our joint initiatives, we will further develop medical products to provide patients with enhanced access to the finest treatment options. Concurrently, we will engage in comprehensive disease awareness campaigns aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of AD.
The tripartite partnership between Eisai Malaysia, Tokio Marine, and PMCare aim to provide better quality of life for AD patients and their families in Malaysia.
